The first lockdown hit back in March 2020 and nobody really knew what to do.. some people took a hit to their finances, their health and their everyday life.
I took this as an opportunity to better myself... but I had to take a dip before I got the fix up.
I started picking up on old hobbies, reading more, cooking random meals, ordering as many takeaways as I could and of course... pinging as many beers as possible, because when else will we get a break like this?
After several months I started to pack on the weight. The first picture you see is probably 2 or 3 days after I decided to make a change. I kept up with almost everything (including the beers) but I had to set a calorie deficit for myself and hit that every day to make sure that I shape up nicely before the end of summer.
The important message here is that you don't need to be "boring" or do things which you hate, in order to look good. It's about finding the right balance which works for you and your body, and learning how you can be consistent with it.
I will share the 3 quick steps you need to hit in order for you to start making a change:
1) Work out how many calories you need to consume each day, in order for you to remain in a deficit, so that you can burn body fat. If you prefer to get all of this sorted out by yourself, you can check out any "calorie calculator" online, Bodybuiilding.com have one too so you can start there.
2) You need to set a goal of being active each day, putting workouts and basic daily activities aside, you need to hit your 10,000 steps as a very minimum. If you can include a run, bike ride, skate or anything else on top of that, then it would help.
3) Of course you need to smash a workout! You can focus on whatever your goals is, but make sure you get your 45mins to 1hr workout in.
The three steps above are the basics to getting you started, you may need to learn more about nutrition when it comes to hitting your calories, or learning more about different workout routines in order for you to hit your activities each day - you can hit up any PT in your area, or reach out to me, I'd be happy to help! :)
